I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge, where I also took my PhD.
I was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1986 and to the German Bar in 1994.
I was a founding partner of the firm Wolfsteiner Roberts & Partner, in Munich. Previously I was a partner of Rössner Rechtsanwälte, also in Munich.
I am a professor of philosophy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. Previously I taught at the University of Bayreuth, and prior to that I was lecturer in philosophy at the Architectural Association School of Architecture Graduate School in London, and lecturer in German and European Thought and Literature at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
I am the author of the monographs Walter Benjamin (Macmillan Press), German Philosophy - An Introduction (Polity Press), The Logic of Reflection (Yale University Press), and Rechtliche Behandlung von Derivaten (de Gruyter), as well as numerous articles in German and English legal journals.
